Diplomas

Approximately six weeks after graduation, students are mailed their diploma(s). Degree, major, and academic honors are printed on the diplomas which measure 11 x 8.5 inches for Baccalaureate and Graduate degrees, and 14 x 11 inches for Juris Doctor degrees.  Minors and options are printed on the transcripts, but not on the diploma.

Outstanding balances

All unpaid student account balances with the university must be cleared before your diploma will be mailed. Contact the Student Accounts Office at (208) 885-7447 or acctrec@uidaho.edu for more information.  Likewise, students with a Perkins Loan must complete an exit interview before their diploma will be mailed.  Contact the Student Loans Office at (208) 885-5571 or learn more about loan repayment.  If you pay your balance or complete your exit interview after graduation, please have the appropriate office contact the Office of the Registrar so they can release your diploma.

Address Change

The address used to mail your diploma is taken directly from your graduation application. If you change your address on the web, it will not affect the diploma mailing address. If you want to change your diploma mailing address, contact Graduation Services in the Office of the Registrar at donnag@uidaho.edu (208) 885-2998 or jghouse@uidaho.edu (208) 885-4619.

Replacement Diplomas

Replacement diplomas can be ordered if your original diploma has been lost or damaged. Replacements are $30 and take approximately two weeks to mail. Each replacement has a statement indicating that it is a replacement of the original and depending upon the age of the original diploma, it may be signed by the incumbent university officials. We often receive requests for replacement diplomas because the graduate's name has changed through marriage or divorce. However, our policy is to issue replacement diplomas using the student's name as it appeared on the original diploma.

Requests for a replacement diploma must be made in writing and contain the following information:

  • Name (as it was when you graduated from the UI)
  • Student ID number and Date of Birth
  • Degree received and graduation date
  • Address to mail replacement diploma
  • Explanation of what happened to your original diploma
  • Signature
  • Payment

Mail or fax your request to:
