Moscow Spring 2008 Graduates

Eligible students are those who have applied to graduate and received confirmation from their advisor or major professor that they are an eligible degree candidate. Students who would like to participate in commencement, but will not complete their degree requirements until a later semester must receive special permission from their advisor or major professor and Dean's Office.

GRADUATE-LEVEL STUDENTS: If you missed the order deadline of March 26, there is still an opportunity for you to purchase your academic apparel the afternoon before and the morning of commencement.  See above for details.

 

Commencement Day
Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 9:30 AM

PROCESSION

Degree candidates and faculty members participating in commencement will meet near the Administration Lawn at 8:00 AM to form a procession to the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center. College signs will be posted; baccalaureate candidates meet with their college while candidates receiving graduate degrees line-up with the College of Graduate Studies. A map is  available showing where each college will line-up. Late arrivals will not receive a reader card or sit with their peers, which may make it difficult to cross the stage; therefore, please arrive on-time for line-up. At 8:30, local bagpipe and drum corps, Border Highlanders, will lead the procession west along University Avenue. In case of inclement weather, signs will be posted with new instructions around the lawn area.

 

CEREMONY

The ceremony begins promptly at 9:30 AM after arrival of the Procession into the Kibbie Center. Graduate and baccalaureate degrees will then be conferred.

 

COLLEGE CELEBRATIONS

Immediately following the ceremony, graduates and their guests are invited to proceed directly to the college celebrations.  These reception events offer refreshments, photo opportunities, and a chance to mingle with peers, faculty and staff.  Graduate students and guests are encouraged to attend the celebration event for the college of their field of study.  To learn more, follow the links below or contact your dean's office.

College of Law Commencement

PROCESSION

Law degree candidates will meet, dressed in regalia, on the front steps of the Menard Law Building at 2:15pm for a class photo.  Candidates will then receive instructions for proceeding to the Memorial Gymnasium.

CEREMONY

The College of Law Ceremony begins at 3:30pm after the arrival of the procession into Memorial Gymnasium.

RECEPTION

Immediately following the ceremony, law students and their guests are invited to a reception at the University Inn-Best Western.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO

Photography and video of the ceremony will be offered in various formats. Image Studios will capture the moment candidates are handed their diploma cover. A passport-size color proof will be mailed to each student when an address is provided, with no obligation to purchase. Candidates will have the option of ordering several photos at reasonable prices. Commencement ceremonies are telecast on cable channel UITV-8 in Moscow. Check the UITV-8 schedule for dates and time.

GUEST INFORMATION

Tickets are not required as there is ample seating for family members and friends at the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center. Seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Lodging accommodations in the local and surrounding areas are available via the Alumni Office website. For further information, please contact them at (208) 885-6154 or alumni@uidaho.edu.

Students or guests with disability-related needs are invited to contact University Events at (208) 885-2347 for availability of hearing devices or other disability assistance. A sign language interpreter can be made available by prior arrangement. For special parking arrangements due to a disability, please contact Parking & Information Services at (208) 885-6424. Please notify these offices as early as possible to allow time to arrange needed services and access. Requests are very difficult to arrange on commencement day.

General parking on Commencement Day is free of charge and can be reached by following Perimeter Drive to the west end of the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center. A map is available from Parking Services.

Shuttles will be available to transport graduates and guests in several capacities. Hotel guests may ride shuttles to and from the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center. Please ask your reservation desk for details upon check-in. Park-n-Ride shuttles will be available at Lot 60 on the corner of Railroad Street and Sweet Avenue to transport riders to the Processional line-up area and to the Kibbie Center.After the ceremony, shuttles will run continuously from the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center to all college celebration sites, hotels and the Park-n-Ride lot; see shuttle details.
