Refer to General Requirements and Academic Procedures, Part 3, Regulation F of the General Catalog for the complete regulation regarding incomplete grades.
A grade of incomplete is assigned only when the student has been in attendance and has done passing work up to a time within three week of the close of the semester (or within one week of the close of the summer session). An incomplete grade can only be assigned when the student and instructor agree upon the extenuating circumstances that made it impossible to complete the course on time.
When assigning the incomplete grade, the instructor must also assign a reversion grade and reversion date as well as a description of the missing work. The reversion grade reflects the grade the student would earn by not completing any further work. The reversion date will automatically default to the latest possible date for completion; instructors may adjust this to be any date prior. Instructors can review reversion dates by accessing their final grade rosters in VandalWeb.
When the student completes work to satisfy the incomplete, the instructor must request a grade correction through VandalWeb. Although an incomplete is not punitive, it remains on the student's permanent record and is accompanied by the final grade (i.e. I/A, I/B, I/C).
Reports of Early Warning grades that were reported on VandalWeb can be generated from BANNER Job Submission. Reports are available in both Excel and text formats. To run the SWRWARN report:
- From the Direct access menu in Banner type SWRWARN.
- If you want Excel output enter DATABASE as your printer, otherwise choose a printer for output.
- Enter the six-digit term code for the semester.
- Choose if you want a report of an entire college or just a department.
- College: Enter the college number in "College Code"; leave "Department Code" blank.
- Department: Enter the department number in "Department Code"; leave "College Code" blank.
- For "Excel Output(Y/N)" enter "Y" ; for plain text output choose "N".
- If you have chosen to print in Excel format to DATABASE, retrieve your file using the Review Output option; locate your file (.lis extension) and then select Save to File to save to your selected directory (you may also rename file at this time) then open Excel and open the file. The Excel import wizard will walk you through opening up the file.
