The University of Idaho uses wait-listing for all regular courses (this excludes directed studies, research, internships, etc.). When a course reaches its maximum enrollment and additional students attempt to register for it, a wait list is formed. If room becomes available in the course, eligible students on the wait list will automatically be registered in the order in which they were put on the wait list.
In VandalWeb, when a student attempts to register for a full course, he or she will be notified that the course is wait listed in which case the student mustselect the wait list option and click the submit button a again to complete the action. Students are not automatically put onto wait lists.
Wait lists are only available through the sixth day of the fall and spring semesters and the first day of summer session classes.
Automatic registration may fail to work under certain circumstances. If the wait listed course would exceed the maximum credits allowed for registration, the student will not be automatically registered if room becomes available in the course. He or she must first seek permission from his or her Dean's Office prior to registration to be allowed over the maximum credit load.
VandalWeb also monitors prerequisites for classes. A student will be unable to wait list a course if the prerequisite has not been met.
A registration override granted by the instructor or department for registration from the wait list will not automatically register the student. The student must login to their VandalWeb account and select the registration option for the course and click the submit button.
